With this acquisition United expands its services portfolio in the commercial market.
United is responsible for the creation, management and distribution of a host of national and international media productions, including Boer Zoekt Vrouw, Expeditie Robinson, Premier League and the MTV Europe Music Awards. In addition, United creates video content for commercial customers (like McDonalds and the Dutch Ministry of Defence) and supplies solutions for video-on-demand providers like Liberty Global.
Since 2004 Quadia has had a strong foothold in the corporate video market. Among its customers are KLM, Randstad, ABN AMRO, Ahold Delhaize and Achmea. Quadia’s medical division, which focuses on providing information and continuing education to healthcare professionals, will go on independently.
“To me, this acquisition presents a huge opportunity for both organisations to complement and reinforce each other,” wxplained Nico Verspaget, Quadia’s director.
“Companies are increasingly using video for a variety of target groups, applications and purposes. This calls for an integrated approach to enhance the return on investments in technology; not least because messages including video have a greater impact. Most companies are done with pilots. They have learned what does and what does not work, and are now looking for end-to-end solutions for technological bottlenecks that help their organisation work with video in a quick, flexible yet structured way.
“The alliance with United builds on our idea of full-service that dates back to our origin in 2004, because we will now be able to really meet all demands of our customers.”
René Delwel, director of United, added: “For a long time we have known Quadia to be a highly professional supplier of online video productions. United sees growth opportunities outside the broadcast industry and would like to accelerate. The co-operation between Quadia and United will jump us to a prominent position in the commercial market. This is also why Quadia will be our label for the commercial market. Moreover, Quadia offers services that could be of interest to our broadcast customers.”
