The Belgian launch of the M7 smart TV app follows the kick off in Germany, where M7 launched the app under the name Diveo last May.
The interactive app functions as a virtual hybrid decoder on a Samsung smart TV and combines linear and non-linear TV, where the full range of TV Vlaanderen/Télésat channels is available via satellite and the internet. In this way, depending on their TV subscription and connection, satellite TV customers of TV Vlaanderen get access to 90 TV channels of their TV subscription and 400 free to air satellite channels on every Samsung Smart TV at home. The interactive services such as the Video on Demand offer and Restart and Replay have also been integrated.
The launch of the app is the result of a successful collaboration between M7 Group and Samsung Electronics and shows that the future of watching TV lies in combining the strengths of both passions as TV provider and TV producer for entertainment. The advantages are therefore very attractive: a classic decoder is no longer necessary, watching TV is done with one remote control and the app is fully integrated with all the other apps available on the Samsung Smart TV.
“The collaboration with an innovative and renowned TV producer such as Samsung is fully in line with our strategy and values about the future of watching TV,” said Hans Troelstra, CEO of M7 Group.
“The way we watch TV is changing rapidly. We want to be able to watch TV anywhere, on our smartphone or tablet, but it’s only on the big screen that the best image and sound quality really come into their own. Creating a Smart TV app with Samsung is therefore a logical evolution for us.
“We are delighted to be able to offer our customers a special TV experience together with M7 Group”, says Richard Jakeman, Head of Business Development of Samsung Electronics.
“With the integration of the extensive and interactive content platform of M7 Group, we enrich the possibilities of our Smart TV customers to discover their favorite entertainment in an enthusiastic and innovative way.
The TV Vlaanderen/Télésat app for the Samsung Smart TV is now available free of charge from 9 October 2018 in the Samsung Smart TV app store for devices from model year 2016. Watching TV via the app is without surcharge and, just like watching TV live via smartphone or tablet, is a standard option included with every TV subscription for satellite TV with TV Vlaanderen. For a full hybrid experience on a Smart TV, without decoder and one remote control, a satellite TV customer needs a CI+ module with the Live TV option.
