The Hungarian regulator NMHH has imposed a fine of HUF51.5 million (€160,000) on Magyar Telekom and its CEO for unlawful procedures related to the company’s switch from analogue to digital broadcasting.

In a statement, NMHH says that during the switch, which took place in April this year, the telco, when informing its subscribers about the move, failed to comply with notification time rules and unilaterally amended their contracts for a fixed term.

The change in technology, which was in its last phase and in some instances also involved replacing digital cable with IPTV, affected a total of 14,194 subscribers.
