SERAPHIC has joined the Wave Application Video Ecosystem (WAVE) as a Consumer Technology Association (CTA) non-member to contribute its know-how of the digital TV industry and support the specifications defined in the WAVE project.

CTA promotes growth in the $351 billion US consumer technology industry through market research, education and public policy representation. It is also the owner and producer of CES.
The WAVE project aims to improve how internet-delivered commercial video is handled on consumer electronics devices and to make it easier for content creators to distribute video to those devices.

SERAPHIC is participating in WAVE with the same objective as the CTA. This is to ensure that for content creators who distribute video across DTV terminals and the Sraf Browser, the Chromium/Blink based digital TV browser SDK provided by SERAPHIC is widely deployed on DTV and STB devices made by numerous major manufacturers. With the support of specifications defined by the WAVE project, e.g. Web Media API, content providers, consumers and manufacturers will all benefit from the good video interoperability of the Sraf Browser.

Commenting on the development, Xinwen Xue, VP product management at SERAPHIC, said, “We’re excited to participate in the WAVE project. SERAPHIC always embraces and contributes to frontier TV technologies. We participate in industry associations and organisations actively as the browser technology pioneer to help our customers develop leading products in a shorter time-to-market. In the following years, with our growing and strong partnership base we’ll continue to focus on browser based open standard hybrid TV technology and bring more fun to global smart TV consumers.”
