SES president and CEO Steve Collar has welcomed the FCC’s handing of the future use of low end spectrum within the C-Band.

The Luxembourg-based operator has joined with Intelsat, Intel and Eutelsat to run the frequencies that serve the US cable market.

“I am pleased with the FCC’s emphasis on the protection of incumbent users from harmful interference and the positioning of our market-based solution as a lead proposal in its recent meeting.

“Our solution will be able to deliver a landmark win-win, freeing up important spectrum quickly to support mid-band 5G roll-out across the U.S. while protecting and enhancing our video distribution neighbourhoods for the tens of millions of households.”

Collar made his comments as SES delivered its latest financial results that indicated a return to growth within its underlying revenues of €961.4 million.

However, while the company believes its full year results will be at the top end of expectations, it’s trimmed video forecasts.
