Vectra has become the first cable operator in Poland to include the on demand service Showmax in its offer.

Showmax is being made available free of charge for two months, both to new and existing Vectra customers, after which it will cost PLN14.90 (€3.48) a month with a contract of at least 12 months or PLN19.90 a month with no contract. It can be received both in customers’ homes and on their mobile devices throughout the country.

Commenting on the development, Tomasz Zuranski, Vectra’s president, said: “For a long time, watching movies and TV series has not been dependent exclusively on linearly broadcast television programmes. With the emergence of appropriate mobile devices, the consumption of video content, which we watch at individually selected times and in different places, is growing.

“Not only are the ways in which we watch films and series changing, but also the way of ordering such content. I am convinced that access to Showmax’s resources will make it easier for our subscribers to spend time in a place where they will find longer or shorter moments for relaxation, entertainment and exploring the world”.

Maciej Sojka, the director of Showmax, added: “We are very happy that we will be able to offer Showmax to new clients in cooperation with such an important partner as Vectra. Cooperation with a large operator is a natural step in the development of Showmax. It is also great news for all customers who can now see what they want and when they want.

“With a whole library of movies, TV series and Showmax programmes as part of a single offer with Vectra, users will get an even fuller range of the best entertainment”.

Vectra is the second largest cable operator in Poland in terms of subscriber numbers, with 971,000 customers in 398 towns and cities throughout the country.

Meanwhile, ShowMax is owned by Naspers and made its European debut in Poland in Febuary last year.
