16

The Slovenian regulator AKOS has provided an overview of its licensing plans for 5G services in the country.

Speaking to the country’s leading broadcaster Pop TV, it said that it expects to announce a public tender by the end of this year and issue frequencies by June 30, 2020.

Prior to the publication of the public tender, which will undertaken in accordance with the Radio Frequency Management Strategy and follow guidelines of the competent ministry, decisions of the government concerning the plan for the use of the 470-790 MHz band and Action Plan ‘5G for Europe’, AKOS will prepare draft tender documentation.

The frequency licence eventually granted by AKOS will include certain requirements for the construction of the 5G network, such as coverage of a certain percentage of the population within a certain period.

AKOS expects all the leading infrastructure companies currently operating in Slovenia, including Telekom Slovenije, A1 Slovenia, Telemach and T-2, to participate in the auction.
