O2 ended the third quarter with 673,000 registered devices for its TV service in the Czech Republic.

This, according to the company’s latest set of results, was a 22% increase on the corresponding period in 2017.

The number of O2 TV fixed line customers, as well as those using an internet connection from any provider (OTT), including Multiservice, reached 308,000 on September 30. Of these, 40,000 subscribed to the complementary Multiservice, which allows customers to watch TV on multiple TV sets at once. Customers are granted up to four free of charge licences to each tariff, allowing them to watch complete O2 TV content on web or in mobile applications. Around 365,000 used this opportunity on a regular basis as of September 30.

The group, which also operates in neighbouring Slovakia, had an operating revenue of CZK28,209 million (€1.084 million) in the first nine months of this year, or 1.1% more than in the corresponding period in 2017.EBITDA amounted to CZK8,342 million (+6.9%) and net profit CZK4,217 million (+2.5%).

Commenting on the results, Jindrich Fremuth, CEO and chairman of the board of directors of O2 Czech Republic, said: “I am glad that our decision to bring to the customers the most attractive sports content – the first Czech football league, the UEFA Champions League and the domestic ice hockey league, has proved positive results already in the first months. The number of customers of our traditional monthly O2 TV tariffs increased by more than 20 thousand in the last three months, the same as in the previous three quarters. For fans who want to watch only our exclusive sports content, we have introduced a new O2 TV Sport Pack package with sport programs that offers all the benefits of IPTV. In addition to watching TV on the set top box, hundreds of thousands of viewers regularly take advantage of watching the whole O2 TV program on the web or in the application”.
