Telekom Srbija sale ruled out

The Serbian incumbent Telekom Srbija is unlikely to be sold this year, according to Rasim Ljajic, the country’s minister of trade, tourism and telecommunications.

Speaking to the Beta agency and quoted by Novosti, he added that the telco had and continues to attract interest from various funds and companies.

It all depends on offers but also the business decisions of Telekom Srbija.

Ljajic also said that the telco’s recent acquisition spree, as extensively reported by Broadband TV News, has been a reaction to market trends. Had it not acted, it would have resulted in a reduction in the company’s revenues and valuation.

Ljajic in addition said that recent trends in the Serbian market such as Telekom Srbija’s acquisitions and the sale of Telenor’s assets to PPF Group would benefit consumers, who will be offered better quality services at lower prices.

They would also benefit investment in infrastructure and the development of fibre networks.
